Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein (1999)
The Chipmunks are in their second full-length animated feature! While the Chipmunks are working at the amusement park, Majestic Movie Studios, in a singing attraction. Little do they know that the real Dr. Frankenstein (Michael Bell) are in a new attraction called, “Frankenstein’s Castle”. After Alvin drives a crazy bus ride, they miss their next performance and get locked in the park after closing time. Dr. Frankenstein figures that the castle isn’t scary enough and re-creates the real Frankenstein (Frank Welker) and after the monster finds the boys, it starts a wild and whacky adventure!
Babylon 5: A Call to Arms (1999)
The Alliance has been in existence for five years. In that time, Sheridan has dealt with a few, but highly intense, conflicts. But there is nothing to compare with the legacy of the war with the Shadows. When the Shadows were defeated by the Alliance, they left for the Rim without the Drakh, a worker race used to build and use Shadow technology and weapons. But now, the Drakh have decided that they should be the Master race and with the technology that they got from the Shadows, they plan to destroy the Alliance completely - one Planet at a time. But the Alliance has one hope and that hope lies in four people, from three different races, who are drawn together by their dreams of the coming conflict.
Insider, The (1999)
This film tells the true story of Jeffrey Wigand, a former tobacco executive, who decided to appear on the CBS-TV News show “60 Minutes.” As matter of conscience partially prodded by producer Lowell Bergman, he revealed that, the tobacco industry was not only aware that cigarettes are addictive & harmful, but deliberately worked on increasing that addictiveness. Unfortunately, both protagonists of this story learn the hard way that simply telling the truth is not enough as they struggle against both Big Tobacco’s attempts to silence them and the CBS TV Network’s own cowardly complict preference of putting money as a higher priority over the truth.
South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut (1999)
South Park is a peaceful and quiet town until the Terrence and Phillip movie “Asses Of Fire” hits the theaters. Once that happens, all friggin’ hell breaks loose. After all the kids see the movie, they begin using all the foul and naughty language used in the movie. When the parents discover this, they demand war against Canada. The parents plan to execute Terrence and Phillip. After Kenny gets sent to hell (all thanks to Cartman), he overhears Satan and Saddam Hussien plan to rise to Earth to rule for 2,000,000 years of torture once Terrence and Phillip’s blood touches US soil. Will Cartman’s filthy fucking mouth and V-Chip save the day?
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas (1999)
A Christmas themed, three-part anthology-style video. The first part, “Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas”, is essentially a retelling of _Groundhog Day (1993)_ (qv), with Huey, Dewey, and Louie reliving Christmas ad infinitum. Next is “A Very Goofy Christmas”, in which Goofy tries to overcome his son’s skepticism about Santa Claus. Finally, “Mickey & Minnie’s Gift Of The Magi” recreate the classic tale of ironic Christmas selflessness. The stories are linked together by narration by ‘Kelsey Grammer’ (qv).
Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, The (1999)
Elmo the fuzzy little red monster wakes up one morning to stick together with his favorite fuzzy blue blanket. Elmo learns a lesson when he refuses to share his blanket with his best friend, Zoe, then loses it in Oscar’s can, where it goes all the way to Grouchland. And now for the first time ever Elmo musters all of his determination and courage and heads off on an action-packed rescue mission that plunges him into Grouch land-a place full of grouchy creatures, stinky garbage and the villainous man alive named Huxley. He asked a kind girl named Grizzy to help Elmo get back his blanket. Grizzy decided she wanted to stop helping because Huxley’s house is on the top of Mount Pickanose which is far, far away. Elmo is now on his own. All the people from Sesame Street come to Grouchland to get Elmo back.
Christmas Carol, A (1999)
Scrooge is a miserly old businessman in 1840’s London. One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of Marley, his dead business partner. Marley foretells that Scrooge will be visited by three spirits, each of whom will attempt to show Scrooge the error of his ways. Will Scrooge reform his ways in time to celebrate Christmas?
Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999)
Leigh Ann Watson is a teenage student at Grandsboro High. An “A” in history would make her valedictorian and get her a scholarship to Harvard. When she turns in her history project, a 365 day diary of a girl accused in the Salem witch trials, a 6 month effort, she receives a “C” from history teacher Mrs. Tingle, the meanest teacher at Grandsboro High. This gives an opportunity for Marybeth Carter, a rival student, to achieve an “A” and become valedictorian. As Leigh Ann tries to catch up doing extra credit by setting up graduation seating with her best friend, Jo Lynn, history class failure Luke Churner, enters with Mrs. Tingle’s final exam cheat sheet. Leigh Ann is caught with it and Mrs. Tingle threatens to tell the Principal about it. The result would have been expulsion, so the trio of teenagers attempt to regain Leigh Ann’s innocence by reasoning with Mrs. Tingle. When their attempt fails, they attack Mrs. Tingle and tie her to her bed. Is there a possible way to prove Leigh Ann innocent?
Bringing Out the Dead (1999)
48 hours in the life of a burnt-out paramedic. Once called Father Frank for his efforts to rescue lives, Frank sees the ghosts of those he failed to save around every turn. He has tried everything he can to get fired, calling in sick, delaying taking calls where he might have to face one more victim he couldn’t help, yet cannot quit the job on his own.
Universal Soldier: The Return (1999)
Universal Soldier II continues the story of Luc Deveraux, who has survived his experiences as a Universal Soldier, recovered, and is now working as a technical expert on a government project to revive and improve the Universal Soldier training program. When S.E.T.H., the supercomputer controlling the Soldiers, goes haywire and takes over, Luc is the only one who can battle this elite team of deadly, near-perfect warriors.
